Dear –FNAME–,

After much consideration, and a review of the state of community spread of COVID19 with the City of Nashua, and under the advisement of the Nashua Division of Public Health & Community Services, we have made the difficult decision to not host the Taste of Downtown, Nashua’s Winter Holiday Stroll, and the Nashua Pride Parade and Festival this fall. We know that these events mean a lot to our community, business owners, and to our community organizations. They help showcase and celebrate all that Downtown Nashua has to offer, the pride we have in our community, and drive visitors to explore many of the great shops and restaurants that they haven’t had a chance to come to love yet. This summer, we began to see a downtrend in cases – and had a great deal of hope for the return of these events. We will endure, and look forward to 2022 for their return.
Great American Downtown will continue our work to drive and promote vibrancy here in Downtown Nashua through our smaller but no less important events and programs like the Nashua Farmers Market, our Saturday Sidewalk sessions, the Downtown Scarecrows Competition, Dancin In The Park, and virtual offerings like the Nom Nom November Cookie Contest, the Nashua Holiday Lighting Contest, self guided public art tours on distrx, and through a variety of promotional efforts through our newsletter, website and on social media platforms. We will continue to work with Public Health to guide programs in a way that ensures we also support the health and wellbeing of our community while serving our mission.
We will also continue to work alongside the City, Downtown Improvement Committee, Nashua Regional Planning Commission, the United Way of Greater Nashua, The Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce, NH Small Business Development Center, and all of our partners and friends to support the resiliency and success of our businesses and community organizations, and gather important feedback to help drive our continued recovery efforts.
It is because of the strength of our relationships, our open communication, and our working together that we have fared as well as we have in these challenging times. Thank you for all you do every day to make our city such an exceptional place to live, work, play and build a business – and for all the support you provide to one another as we continue to look forward to our brighter future here in Nashua.

Wishing you and yours good health,
Sincerely,
Paul Shea

Photo of the Week

Our photo of the week is of the volunteers working hard with Grow Nashua. They remind you, as summer comes to a close, that it’s “time for cleaning and organizing gardens, harvesting, and seed saving!” Grow Nashua really helped us with our Gate City Community Gardens this year. They have also been part of creating the terrific program of the Lil’ Free Farmstand at our Nashua Farmers Market, where marketgoers purchase an item of produce and donate it to a resource for our food-insecure neighbors. Great work, everyone!

Do you have some great pictures of our vibrant Downtown you’d like to show off? Post them to our Facebook page, or send them to us by email! We love to share images that capture the beauty and excitement of Downtown Nashua.

THE LIBRARY WANTS TO HEAR YOUR IDEAS!

Have Nashua Public Library
better serve the community
with your feedback!
The Nashua Public Library has been busy dreaming of the future – and they want to hear from you!
The library is currently engaged in a strategic planning process to guide its work over the next three years. They’re spending time listening to our community to learn more about the needs and aspirations of individuals and of community groups.
They especially want to hear from people who don’t use the library!
As part of this process, the library is holding a series of one-hour focus group sessions (in-person and virtual) during the week of September 13, and hope you will consider attending one to give feedback.
If you register for a virtual session, you will receive the Zoom link a few days before your session. If you are unable to attend a session, but would like to provide additional input into the strategic planning process, please contact Amanda Standerfer at [email protected].

OUR SECOND WALKING ART TOUR IS READY!

Great American Downtown
presents another free walking art tour
There’s so much wonderful art in Nashua, there’s always something new to discover! That’s why we’ve created another art tour for you to enjoy!
Our FREE downloadable app allows you to take a self-guided walk at your own pace, starting anywhere in Downtown Nashua. Art Walk II technically “begins” on Water Street, exploring the patriotic and historic murals there and in Renaissance Park. Then we examine the sculptures on both sides of the Nashua River, working our way up Main Street and exploring more than a dozen works in paint and stone, several surrounding the Nashua Public Library, and culminating with the trio of additions from our recent 2021 Nashua International Sculpture Symposium, near the Court Street Theatre.
The DISTRX app is FREE to download onto any smartphone, and will guide you along an easy route through Downtown Nashua and surrounding areas. As you approach a mural or sculpture, the app will give you an audio description of the work, its artist, and facts about its creation. Information and photos on your phone will enable further future exploration on your own.
Read more about our art tours HERE; the first is ready to also experience in Spanish, with the second’s translation in process.

While you are there, you’ll get to see this amazing mural being painted right now by Beyond Walls as it comes together – right behind Clocktower Place! We can’t wait to see the final product, and add it as a stop along the tour.
