Photo of the Week

Our photos of the week are some of our favorite moments from last Friday’s Dancin’ in the Park event. Dan Gabel and the Abletones brought the Big Band swing sound to Renaissance Park, and hundreds of folks Lindy’d and jived the night away with us!
Top photo by our Executive Director, Paul Shea; dance instructor Theo Martinez and his partner Ani Benavides Berube, courtesy of HTM Dance; and the terrific shots of our energetic attendees were captured by Seth J. Dewey Photography

THIS WEEK: CHARITABLE GAMING IN NASHUA

Have fun, help support
the Nashua Performing Arts Center
The Lucky Moose, 16 Gusabel Ave. in the Nashua Mall, exit 6 (in the former Bugaboo Creek restaurant location) is a new and exciting spot to try your luck and help local nonprofits at the same time.
Now through Aug. 31, your fun night out will include a charitable gaming donation to the upcoming Nashua Performing Arts Center, being built right now on the corner of Main and W. Pearl streets.
James Rafferty, General Manager of the Lucky Moose, cordially invites you to join his staff for a guaranteed exciting evening of casino games: Roulette, Blackjack, NH Holdʼem (their take on Mississippi Stud) and NH 21 (think Spanish 21, only better). They’re also proud of their large tavern menu – award-winning chicken tenders, pizza, burgers, steak and more – and beverages.
35% of gaming proceeds every day goes to a local charity. In their 14 years in business, the Lucky Moose has raised over $4 million for 111 charities.
Why not stop by and check out Nashua’s newest gaming site?

NEW VENDOR THIS WEEK! OASIS SPRINGS FARM

Oasis Springs Farm is an urban hydroponic farm located in Nashua. Celebrating their fifth anniversary this month, owners Sarah and Chris Ward have expanded to growing their produce in three shipping container “farms” (equivalent to 4.5 acres) that produce year-round lettuce, kale, herbs and microgreens.
If you’ve never seen a shipping container decked out with grow lights and temperature controls, with the produce growing vertically on the walls, it’s pretty neat! (And how good must that wall of basil smell?!)
What they currently grow:
  • Lettuce: Butterhead,  Romaine, Bibb, Mixed Greens Blend
  • Greens: Kale, Swiss Chard,  Spinach Chard
  • Herbs: Oregano, Dill, Mint, Parsley, Red Veined Sorrel, Thyme
  • Microgreens: Mild, Spicy, Radish, Broccoli, Pea Shoots
Stop by and welcome them to the market this Sunday! Oasis Springs also has a CSA/Weekly Share program to consider. Read more here. You can also check out their website and Facebook page.

OUR SECOND WALKING ART TOUR IS READY!

Great American Downtown
presents another free walking art tour
There’s so much wonderful art in Nashua, there’s always something new to discover! That’s why we’ve created another art tour for you to enjoy!
Our FREE downloadable app allows you to take a self-guided walk at your own pace, starting anywhere in Downtown Nashua. Art Walk II technically “begins” on Water Street, exploring the patriotic and historic murals there and in Renaissance Park. Then we examine the sculptures on both sides of the Nashua River, working our way up Main Street and exploring more than a dozen works in paint and stone, several surrounding the Nashua Public Library, and culminating with the trio of additions from our recent 2021 Nashua International Sculpture Symposium, near the Court Street Theatre.
The DISTRX app is FREE to download onto any smartphone, and will guide you along an easy route through Downtown Nashua and surrounding areas. As you approach a mural or sculpture, the app will give you an audio description of the work, its artist, and facts about its creation. Information and photos on your phone will enable further future exploration on your own.
Read more about our art tours HERE; the first is ready to also experience in Spanish, with the second’s translation in process.

While you are there, you’ll get to see this amazing mural being painted right now by Beyond Walls as it comes together – right behind Clocktower Place! We can’t wait to see the final product, and add it as a stop along the tour.
