Our photo of the week comes to us from TaleSpinner Craft Brewery, coming soon to Downtown Nashua. They’re still snazzing up their place, which overlooks the river from their back deck, at 40 Water Street. Thanks for the snowy snap!

What’s your vision of Nashua’s future?
What is Imagine Nashua?
Imagine Nashua will combine comprehensive community engagement with existing plans, to create an innovative vision for the future of Nashua. This plan will focus on equity, resilience, and climate protection.
It’s been 20 years since Nashua’s last Master Plan, so it’s time to get fresh ideas and perspectives, to plan for the city’s future.
A Master Plan is a long-term planning document, focused on land use policies, that outlines a vision for the future of Nashua, with clear strategies and tactics to guide future decision-making and programs across the community. This Master Plan will engage in an inclusive citywide discussion with voices who arenât typically at the table, to achieve a more well rounded perspective on key policy decisions.

‘BRAVE NEW WORLD’ STUDENT ART EXHIBIT
|
|
|
|
|
“BRAVE NEW WORLD: Resilience in the time of Covidâ
Dec. 11, 2020âFeb. 14, 2021
OPENING RECEPTION: 2 pm Fri., Dec. 18
A collaboration of 80 Nashua School District students and three arts educators â Rodney Coffin (Nashua High North), Stephanie Sewuk-Thomas (Brentwood Academy), and Robin Peringer (Nashua High South) â has created a free, collaborative and movable public art project titled “Brave New World.” It’s on display outside at Amherst Elementary School, 71 Amherst St., along its chain link fence.
The âBrave New Worldâ exhibit and resources website explains: âArt in the street makes people happy! It makes their day and their commute more interesting â¦. Art reminds people to feel alive. It wakes people up. It inspires. Motivates. And sometimes it can make people think .. . We will be hanging our works of art in the community for all to see. It will visually shout to the viewer how resilient we all are as individuals, and as a community through these uncharted times.â
With the challenges of COVID-19, teaching remotely, and being concerned with the social and emotional well-being of students and the community, this need to communicate visual and verbal messages of hope and resilience were of utmost importance, the art teachers said. The philosophy of the project was inspired by the âChoose Love Movement,â established by Scarlett Lewis after her son, Jesse, age 6, was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, CT. Lewis says, âThe âChoose Love Movementâ is teaching children and adults around the world how to change an angry thought to a loving one, and live a life filled with âCourage + Gratitude + Forgiveness + Compassion-in-Action.â
The Nashua art teachers created a website for the Brave New World project to house their research and resources to provide the students at the three schools with a similar learning experience. They report that students embraced the meaning behind the art project and are excited to share their work with the public.
The paintings have been treated with a marine grade clear coat to handle the weather. The choice of using a chain link fence for exhibiting the work was made so it could be a type of street art, in the outdoors, and enable it to be temporary and movable. The organizers would like to find another outdoor location to move it to at the end of this exhibition and are amenable to work with people who would like to host the artwork also.
The exhibit is dedicated to the memory of Nashua North senior, Tyler Almeida, who was an inspiration to all who knew him. His spirit carries on through acts of kindness.

Fortin Gage presents Gerald Charles Dickens
in an exciting virtual event!
A Christmas Carol
Since 2009, during the holiday season, Fortin Gage Flowers and Gifts has partnered with Byers’ Choice LTD to bring Gerald Dickens â great-great grandson to the renowned author â to Nashua to perform A Christmas Carol, along with other classic works by Charles Dickens. It’s become a tradition so many of you look forward to, as do we!
Unfortunately, Gerald’s US tour will not take place in 2020, but we do have great news for you today! Gerald recently filmed his one-man adaptation of his great-great grandfather’s beloved A Christmas Carol, and Fortin Gage is a 2020 local sponsor for the film scheduled for release on Thanksgiving Day.
Fortin Gage continues its 12-year annual commitment to return a portion of the proceeds from A Christmas Carol right back into our community. In 2020,
All tickets will be available via a special link from Fortin Gage. Using that link will ensure their ability to share proceeds from this streaming event with GAD and Nashua PAL. That information will be shared on Thursday!
Rental of the film for 7 days will be offered for $20 for your whole family to enjoy. We’ll share links and more information in the coming days on the Great American Downtown page.
Gerald is an absolute delight and consummate performer.
