a 501c3 non-profit with a mission centered around economic and cultural vibrancy in Downtown Nashua, NH

The Downtowner
Your Source For All Things Local!

Dear –FNAME–,

If you are responsible for a business or organization, you know well how much impact the past year has had on your ability to serve your customers and your clients. There have been a lot of great state, local, and federal programs that have supported our community in a variety of ways – from implementing special COVID protections for your employees and those you serve, to helping to cover some of the shortfalls that have resulted from a disruption in business.

Here at Great American Downtown, we are coming up on one year since we’ve been working with our friends at the City of Nashua, our Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, the NH Small Business Development Center, and with countless other partners to serve our mission and be of support to our community. Today, we published a blog at DowntownNashua.org that shares some of the latest information – about how the SBA has targeted certain areas of Nashua for additional support through the EIDL program, useful information for Schedule C filers who are looking to apply for the PPP, as well as a preview of the City of Nashua’s upcoming COVID Impact fund for Nashua businesses and non-profits. You can check it out, and learn more here.

It’s always been a part of our mission to help support the resiliency and success of our Downtown. This year, we’ve been doing so in ways that we could have never anticipated. we will continue to keep our community informed as various programs roll out with the next federal stimulus and otherwise. If you’re not already receiving emails from us, and would like to be added to our list for informational meetings as these programs roll out- click here and provide your info on our form and we’ll keep you in the Loop!

We hope you’re having a great week!

Photo of the Week

Our photo collage of the week is a tasty peek at Downtown Nashua’s newest restaurant, Empanellie’s, at 83 West Pearl Street.
Stop by and enjoy authentic cuisine in a colorful environment! They’re serving up a variety of empanadas (a baked or fried pastry stuffed with meat, cheese, vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients) in breakfast, traditional, specialty and sweet styles, as well as a Latin buffet, sandwiches, desserts and more.
Congratulations to owner Nelson Mercado and staff on a hugely successful opening – their delicious empanadas were sold out by 7 pm!
Visit Empanellie’s from 11 am–8 pm, Tuesdays–Sundays, and check them out on Instagram HERE.

REMINDER: RESERVE YOUR TREE PLANTING!

Tree-Plenish of Nashua South will plant trees for you!
Order by March 17!
Tree-Duce, Tree-Use, Tree-Cycle!
After noticing the amount of paper that was used at their local public high school in Massachusetts, two students decided that they wanted to replenish the environment with the resources that their school has taken. They set out with a goal to plant 230 trees in the local community – the number required to make up for their school’s paper consumption during the 2018-2019 academic year.

The tree-planting event was a major success. The community came together to plant more than 330 trees, exceeding the initial goal! After spreading to other towns and working with environmental advocacy groups, Tree-Plenish has now come to Nashua High School South!
Students from Nashua High School South need to plant at least 275 trees to offset their school’s paper usage. Your donation of  only $4.10 a tree will send volunteers to plant it in your yard on April 17. They have several varieties of trees available: Red Maple, Silver Maple and River Birch.

Read about this great youth endeavor HERE, and register for your sapling by clicking below! Please sign up by March 17 so the students can schedule for your April 17 planting.
