Photo of the Week

Our photo of the week features one of over a dozen Downtown dining spots, that are ready to greet diners with some sunshine, fresh air, and expanded outdoor seating!

Last Friday, the Department of Public Works was out all day in the heat deploying Jersey Barriers to narrow Main Street to two lanes, with a center turning lane – to allow for expanded outdoor dining under new health and safety guidelines developed by state and local health authorities.

Some have asked, and we are happy to share that Nashua Fire, Police, and all City departments have been a part of the planning process, and the layout was determined with clearance needs for emergency vehicles in mind. The safety, traffic impact, and usefulness of the layout will be continually monitored by those departments. Adjustments will be made accordingly as time goes on.  We are really excited about this ground breaking use of public space, in support of our small business community – and for your enjoyment! Great work to all involved at the City of Nashua!

Do you have some great pictures of our vibrant Downtown you’d like to show off? Post them to our Facebook page, or send them to us by email! We love to share images that capture the beauty and excitement of Downtown Nashua.

DOWNTOWN IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

Looking to Eat, Shop and Support Local?
Your neighbors are ready to serve you!

As many restaurants and shops in Downtown Nashua endeavor to provide their best service to you with increased awareness of social distancing and sanitation measures, please consider patronizing these locally owned businesses and show them we’re here to help them recover.
Please respect our friends and neighbors in food service and retail by adhering to safety precautions and posted rules. These temporary inconveniences are far outweighed by the benefits for our economy and the health of the community. THANK YOU!

Brewery of the Week!
Downtown Nashua is home to some fantastic breweries, most of which are still up and running to keep those pint glasses at home full. This week, we’re featuring Millyard Brewery!
Located at 25 E. Otterson Street, the Millyard Brewery is a local craft brewer with 13 beers on tap. Offering outdoor seating (capacity for 24), growlers, flight tastings and hot food (and live music during normal operating conditions), they began outdoor trivia again this week, as they and others find ways to open up and offer guests ways to visit.
Millyard is a relaxed downtown locale off the beaten path.
Current social distancing hours are evolving, and their website is temporarily down for revamping. But as of press time:
Wednesdays 6–8 pm
Saturdays 1–4 pm
Keep up to date on their Facebook page.

Humane Society for Greater Nashua:
Celebrating 120 years!
The Humane Society for Greater Nashua has been finding forever homes for dogs, cats and other small animals for more than a century. Located at 24 Ferry Road, the shelter cares for an incredible 2,500+ stray, unwanted and rescued animals annually, until they get to go home with their new families. Could you be their family? Click here to find a new friend!
Help the HSGN!
In May, the Humane Society has found a creative way to keep interacting with the public, and to raise funds for their good work. The Great Catsby virtual auction is auctioning off a number of fun and unique items to raise money for HSGN’s mission of advocating for and enhancing the lives of animals entrusted to their care, to strengthen the human/animal bond.
The virtual silent auction will end at 11 pm Saturday, May 30.
The live auction will be held 7–8 pm Sunday, May 31 on Facebook and YouTube.
“We are so excited for this virtual fundraising event,” said Katie Boyden, Director of Community Engagement of HSGN. “Our gala is normally our biggest fundraiser of the year, so we are hoping to still find some success with the transition to the digital world.”
Can’t participate in the auction? Please consider a donation. Your tax-deductible gift will help provide food, supplies, medical care and shelter for pets awaiting adoption.
Follow the HSGN on Facebook or visit their website.
