Dear –FNAME–,
This past year we have seen our community pull together in many ways to support one another. It is because of the strength of our relationships, and our willingness to step up to ensure that all of our neighbors have what they need, that we have faired as well as we have. With the roll out of vaccinations here in the State of NH, it is so nice to be able to finally have a time when we can look back on how we all did our part to keep Nashua together and thriving in sight, and look forward to returning to a place where we can gather again.

Here at Great American Downtown, we are so looking forward to a return of the great community events that we know and love, and we hope that you are too! Music Festivals, the Winter Holiday Stroll, the Taste of Downtown will once again me taking place – and we can’t wait! In the warmer month ahead, we will be working to roll out a set of smaller programs with the support and guidance from our friends at the Nashua Division of Public Health and Community Services – and work toward a return to the big community gatherings that we are best known for.

A huge part of getting there, is ensuring that folks who are able to receive the vaccine with the support of their healthcare provider, and the many hard working folks with organizations like the Nashua Department of Public Health. If you haven’t had a chance to read up on how NH is rolling out vaccinations, I hope you’ll visit the DPH website for access to some great information. There, you’ll be able to see where you might fall in the schedule, as well as keep up to date as more information becomes available on these efforts.

Thank you to all of the healthcare workers who have been tirelessly dedicated to caring for our community, and who will be instrumental in the weeks and months ahead as we move toward brighter warmer days, spent with our loved friends, family, and neighbors who we have been apart from for far too long.

Visit The Nashua Division of Public Health For More Info

Sincerely,
Paul Shea

Photo of the Week

Our photo of the week was captured in front of PRG Rugs at 227 Main Street. Wards 3 and 4 have created a Golden Shovel and White Shovel awards endeavor, to incentivize folks to keep their sidewalks clean and safe. You can see more on the Facebook threads for Golden Shovel for Ward 4 and White Shovel for Ward 3.
City crews along with dedicated business owners have been hard at work keeping the sidewalks clear, and Downtown Nashua is ready for you this Valentine’s Day weekend. Come by and enjoy with someone special!

HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT TANGLED ROOTS HERBAL?

Let’s get (meta)physical at Tangled Roots!
If you haven’t stopped by the Tangled Roots Herbal shop at 95 W. Pearl Street, you should! They have countless intriguing and beneficial items for health, wellness, spirituality and more. Classes, workshops and psychic readings are offered as well. If you need education or information on herbs, essential oils, or anything, owner Karen and her staff can help!
Here’s a comforting winter tea recipe from Karen:
1 part Chamomile
1 part Lemon Balm
1/2 part Cinnamon
1/4 part Ginger
1 Part Wood Betony
1 tsp (or a little more) per 8 oz of hot water (and if you’re not a fan of ginger and cinnamon, this would be lovely with a little dried rose and maybe a titch of lavender). Several times a day is okay.

App brings art to virtual ‘life’
League of NH Craftsmen has created a collaborative project with Aery AR and Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, called “NH Art and Craft Take Off in Augmented Reality.”
It was produced to introduce audiences in any location to the League. Presenting the highly unique opportunity to interact with objects from their permanent collection allows the public to learn about fine craft from the convenience of their iOS devices, while offering an education on the history of the organization. The League says they’re thrilled to be leveraging technology in this way to showcase historical and contemporary artwork in the region.
Jess Blackstone’s hand-carved wood sculpture, shown above, can be digitally manipulated to stand as tall as a tree or sit in the palm of your hand (just like the real work of art) using the Aery app. You can continue to play with scale, making the 3-D augmented reality model larger than life to physically walk all the way around it, to appreciate the artistry from every angle.
We love when art and technology can coexist! Check out more on the project by clicking below.
