Dear –FNAME–,

Today, Great American Downtown is being recognized as finalists for The Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce Community Hero Award, alongside our friends at United Way of Greater Nashua and YMCA of Greater Nashua. We are honored to be in such a great company!

We serve our mission primarily through community events, and enduring the pandemic has made for a year of many “pivots.’ We are so proud of our team, our city, the many people we’ve worked with over the past year to serve our mission of vibrancy, and all the good work we’ve done together to support the success and endurance of our neighbors, small businesses and community organizations in this challenging time.

Our downtown is the heart of our community, and we will bounce back in a big way because of the strength of our relationships and how we’ve come together to meet the challenges we’ve faced.

We’re looking forward to brighter and brighter days ahead, and coming together once again to celebrate all of the things that make Nashua such a special place to live, work, play, and raise a family.

From myself, and from all of us here at Great American Downtown,
We hope to see you soon, out and about!

Paul Shea
Executive Director
Great American Downtown Inc.

Photo of the Week

Our photo of the week was posted by Nashua Division of Public Health & Community Services, as they recognized the staff of La Fama Barber Shop for partnering with them on a bilingual outreach walk-in vaccine clinic, to combat COVID-19. Once their staff and a few clients received the vaccine, the two groups worked together to set up a second walk-in clinic later in the month, achieving another 10 vaccinations. A third clinic is scheduled for this Saturday at the shop.
Public Health stated, “This fantastic group has gone above and beyond to reach out to their community of friends and family to have them vaccinated in a place they are familiar with, and feel safe. We cannot thank them enough for their dedication and effort in keeping their community safe and healthy.”

PLEASE DONATE TO HELP LOCAL MUSICIANS!

‘NH Gives’ 24-hour online charitable giving event
begins 5 pm Tuesday, June 8
Please donate to Great American Downtown, as we continue to promote our vibrant community through events and programs

The NH Charitable Foundation has a NH Gives campaign with a matching grant program as part of it. Great American Downtown, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping promote vibrancy and engagement for Downtown Nashua, is asking for your assistance by donating to our organization during the campaign.
Why donate to us? So we can help others
Here at Great American Downtown, we love live music. We have originated and presented many great live music events over the years. Our local artists and musicians make city life more vibrant and worth living. Many of these folks took a big financial hit last year due to a lack of paid performance opportunities during the pandemic.
Our goal is to raise and spend $25,000 this year on booking local talent – for our Sidewalk Sessions, music festivals and other opportunities we create to showcase our talented friends and neighbors. 100% of your donation will be set aside and go to local musicians, as we work to create an abundance of paid performance opportunities.
Please consider making a donation in any amount, and we’ll invest that – and certainly much more – into our local arts scene.
You can donate beginning at 5 pm Tuesday, June 8, by visiting our donation page. More information can also be found on our Facebook event page.
READ MORE in our blog by clicking below, and
MARK YOUR CALENDAR for 5 pm Tuesday to donate.
WE THANK YOU!

Mayor Donchess rings in Pride Month
with flag raising
9:30 am Monday, June 7
In honor of June as Pride Month, Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess will hold a brief flag-raising ceremony at 9:30 am Monday, in front of City Hall, 229 Main St.
Additionally, Nashua City Hall will fully reopen to the public on Monday. For the past year, throughout the pandemic, all essential city services have remained available to residents by way of regular mail, dropbox, online and by phone, as well as limited entry into City Hall for some departments. With the full reopening of City Hall, all departments offering in-person services will accept walk-in customers and those with appointments during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (hours may differ among departments for some services).
City Hall Construction
Nashua City Hall is currently under construction. Improvements are being made to enhance the health and safety of residents and city employees. Construction will continue through the month of June. Residents entering City Hall are asked to enter through either the front or back door to the building (Elm Street entrance), follow instructions on signage and to be mindful of construction areas.
Appointments and the City Hall Greeter
Residents who have made appointments with a department can enter City Hall and proceed to the proper department at their scheduled time. For residents walking in without appointments who are not sure if they need to make one, a City Hall Greeter is located at the back of the building on the first floor (accessible via the Elm Street entrance) and can assist residents with making an appointment and answer any questions they may have.
Detailed information regarding individual City Hall departments can found on their website – click below.
