Dear –FNAME–,
Do you wish you knew more about Nashua’s wealth of public art?
We’re looking for beta testers who are available in the next week to test out a self guided public art tour we’re launching. The tour lasts about 60 minutes, and covers 15 stops and about 1 mile. This tour is a great socially distanced activity, and a fun way to get some exercise while learning about our city! Would you like to help out?
Here’s what you need to do:
Step 1: Download the distrx App
Step 2: Park at or near the Elm Street Garage, bring your smart phone and headphones with you.
Step 3: Open the app, and select the “tours” button, and then press “start tour”
Step 4: Take the 15 stop tour, which starts at Elm & W Hollis Street, goes up and back down Main and ends at Citizens Bank across from City Hall. On arrival to each stop, an audio description of the artwork will automatically play for you.
Step 5: Press the “Leave Feedback” button upon completion of the tour, and let us know what worked well, and if there are any bugs you experience. This will help us fine tune the tour, which just went live today, before we do more promotion.
Thank you for your help – we hope you enjoy the tour! If folks enjoy this, we could build out more routes, rich with art and history, to help people explore and learn about our great city.  Find Distrx in your App Store or Google Play, or head on over in your mobile browser to https://distrx.com and click on the button for iPhone or android devices.
Remember, we may have some weather coming into tomorrow – so watch the forecast, and use your best judgement! Thanks to everyone who has already discovered the tour via our Facebook, and thanks for all your great feedback!
We hope you have a great weekend,
Paul Shea

Photo of the Week

Our photo of the week was shared by Stella Blu, located on East Pearl Street in Downtown Nashua, and features a vibrant array of colors, concocted with their mixologists palette. We love the great energy that new owners, Leslie and Jeff Bois, have brought to this food and drink hot spot just a few feet off of Main. They are coming up their one year anniversary in Downtown Nashua! Congrats, and cheers!
Do you have some great pictures of our vibrant Downtown you’d like to show off? Post them to our Facebook page, or send them to us by email! We love to share images that capture the beauty and excitement of Downtown Nashua.

NONPROFIT OF THE WEEK

Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity
Since 1994, Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity has sought to provide safe, decent and affordable housing in the southern New Hampshire towns they serve –  Amherst, Brookline, Greenville, Hollis, Hudson, Lyndeborough, Mason, Merrimack, Milford, Mont Vernon, Nashua, Pelham, Wilton and Windham. Their small group of dedicated volunteers wanted to help break the cycle of poverty and provide a stable home to those in need. Right from the start, they were able to provide a  small number of critical home repairs and community improvement projects with limited funding and a modest  group of volunteers.
The first GNHFH home was built 25 years ago by partnering with Monadnock Habitat For Humanity, to complete a home in Amherst. In 1997, GNHFH became owners of their first property, a duplex, in the French Hill neighborhood of Nashua, that provided decent housing for two deserving families.
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, GNHFH works to strengthen families and communities through affordable homeownership opportunities, working in partnership with corporations, like-minded community groups, faith-based organizations and volunteers. They assist families whose income is above public housing guidelines, and who are unable to qualify for conventional mortgages; they pay a monthly no-interest mortgage to GNHFH. These monies, in turn, go back into building more, simple, decent, affordable homes.
If you missed the section of our newsletter that talked about their current search for military veteran families needing housing, please scroll back and check it out. If you are able to donate time, supplies or money to this worthy nonprofit, please do so HERE.
Read more about GNHFH’s mission and programs on their webpage, follow them on Facebook, call them at (603) 883-0295 or send an email HERE.
