Your Source For All Things Local!

Dear –FNAME–,
We love to create fun and exciting experiences for you, and keep you in the loop on all of the things our Downtown has to offer. Early this summer, we offered some great tees for sale online to show your community pride, and to help raise funds to support our Mission of Vibrancy. If you missed out, you’ll have another chance to get your hands on these limited edition prints – with our pop up tee shirt shop at the Nashua Farmers Market! Stop by and see us on Sundays from 10am-2pm, at the Great American Downtown table, located in front of the City Hall steps. We’ll have them on sale, while supplies last! Stay tuned, in September – we will be breaking out hooded sweatshirts too!

We hope you have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Paul Shea

Our photo of the week, taken by Dorothy Perrucci, captures a truly breathtaking sunset from the viewpoint of Clocktower Apartments. Mother Nature has certainly provided us with some incredibly vibrant day’s end skies this summer! Wow!

OUR SECOND WALKING ART TOUR IS READY!

Great American Downtown
presents another free walking art tour
There’s so much wonderful art in Nashua, there’s always something new to discover! That’s why we’ve created another art tour for you to enjoy!
Our FREE downloadable app allows you to take a self-guided walk at your own pace, starting anywhere in Downtown Nashua. Art Walk II technically “begins” on Water Street, exploring the patriotic and historic murals there and in Renaissance Park. Then we examine the sculptures on both sides of the Nashua River, working our way up Main Street and exploring more than a dozen works in paint and stone, several surrounding the Nashua Public Library, and culminating with the trio of additions from our recent 2021 Nashua International Sculpture Symposium, near the Court Street Theatre.
The DISTRX app is FREE to download onto any smartphone, and will guide you along an easy route through Downtown Nashua and surrounding areas. As you approach a mural or sculpture, the app will give you an audio description of the work, its artist, and facts about its creation. Information and photos on your phone will enable further future exploration on your own.
Read more about our art tours HERE; the first is ready to also experience in Spanish, with the second’s translation in process.

While you are there, you’ll get to see this amazing mural being painted right now by Beyond Walls as it comes together – right behind Clocktower Place! We can’t wait to see the final product, and add it as a stop along the tour.

AUGUST IS NH EATS LOCAL MONTH!

Eat local, support local!
August is NH Eats Local Month
Each week in August, there’s a new way to support our local food purveyors, during the NH Eats Local initiative. This week, it’s pick-your-own opportunities in the spotlight. Next week, let’s shine a light on our favorite local restaurants!
WEEK 3, AUG 15–21 – DINE OUT, DINE LOCAL
Snap a photo and share your experience dining out at a New Hampshire restaurant. Post photos on social media with the hashtag #NHEatsLocal to not only show support, but to possibly win a great prize!
There’s still time to top by a pick-your-own farm this week through Saturday, too. The NH Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food has a variety of resources available to find local food near you. Especially helpful for Week 2 of NH Eats Local Month is their Harvest-Your-Own guide. CLICK HERE to access the guide.
We’ll let you know what the other weeks’ topics are as we eat our way through August! They’re in the bottom left green box, too. You can also read more on their Facebook page.

HELP JACK SAVE THE ORANGUTANS!

Come meet The Kid Conservationist!
Jack is an 11-year-old Nashua resident who wrote a children’s book, Kawan the Orangutan: Lost in the Rainforest. Jack’s goal is to get orangutans off the endangered species list, and his hopes are that this book will inspire the next generation to help.
Each purchase plants a tree in the rainforest critical to orangutan survival. He is known as the Kid Conservationist and was a top 20 finalist for Time’s Kid of the Year 2020, and is the local Reading Radar Celebrity at the Nashua Public Library.
His book will be available at the Nashua Farmers Market this summer and is always available at www.kidconservationist.com.
Come say hi to Jack and thank him for all his hard work saving orangutans! And if you love orangutans, too, be sure to check out artist Teresa Moler’s booth, where you can also find a great watercolor rendition!
