Photo of the Week

Meri Goyette
4/2/1926- 7/23/2021
Our photo of the week honors Nashua arts community icon Meri Goyette. We are devastated to lose this energetic, impactful and sassy woman that we called our friend.
Meri, we will miss you and your irrepressible spirit – so perfectly captured in the archival photo above – but your astonishing contributions to the Nashua arts will be enjoyed and experienced for decades to come. Read more about Meri’s amazing life HERE.
Whether it’s the dozens of public sculptures created from your Nashua International Sculpture Symposium over the years, or your tribute sculpture to your beloved husband, Charlie, at Rotary Common Park, your love of art is spread all over our city.
And we’ll see the gleam in your eye in all of it.

FRIDAY: VIRTUAL THEATER GOES HIGH-TECH!

‘Annie Jr.’ virtual musical theater production
Streaming Friday, July 30 – Sunday, Aug. 1
It’s been a hard-knock life for everyone this past year, but we didn’t let it keep us from doing what we love. For many, that means participating in theater performances.
This MCTP adult/youth community show of Annie Jr. was filmed on a green stage with one actor at a time, due to COVID-19 safety protocols. That footage was laid upon hand-painted back drops to cleverly overcome the pandemic challenges of mounting a show.
It was challenging, rehearsing online and with only 1 or 2 in-person rehearsals prior to filming. Director Marc M. Murai spent hours editing the footage, to present this fun and truly unique experience – for the viewers and the actors themselves.
Check out this SUPER-COOL PROMO TRAILER that gives you a sneak peek, tells you how they did it, and how to grab your tickets for virtual viewing. You can also point and zoom your smartphone’s camera at the QR code in the image above!

Stop by and enjoy poker, pool, sports betting and more – plus food and drinks – and 35% of the club’s earnings during that week will be donated.
In accordance with the Racing and Charitable Gaming Division of the New Hampshire Lottery Commission, Boston Billiard Club & Casino donates 35 percent of all gaming proceeds to a 501(3)(c) non-profit licensed with the New Hampshire Lottery Commission.

TUESDAY: NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

National Night Out
5:30–7:30 pm Tuesday, Aug. 3
Join our Nashua Police and Fire Departments and your neighbors at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua, in celebrating National Night Out this coming Tuesday evening. Meet those who protect and serve our community, while enjoying food, games, raffles and more activities.
The event will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua at One Positive Place (the end of Grand Avenue, near Ledge Street Elementary School).
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police/community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas and select areas celebrate on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.
