Dear –FNAME–,
We want to take a moment to thank everyone who made a donation to our #GivingTuesdayNow fundraising campaign, in support of the Nashua Farmers Market! As you may have heard the Nashua Farmers Market Opening Day is set for June 21st, and we will need the support of the community to ensure that the market can have a successful season, as we work to adjust practices and respond to the impacts of coronavirus.
With support from friends like you, we’ve already surpassed the halfway mark toward our goal of raising $2,500! Thank you to the dozens of people who have already stepped up. Do you believe that bolstering our local food systems strengthens our community, and improves our resiliency? Please consider making a donation, and helping us reach our goals here!
Hoping you have a great weekend,
Paul Shea

Photo of the Week

Nashua has come together in many amazing ways, to show love to first responders, who are working day in and day out to ensure the health, safety, and security of our community.
Our photo of the week was shared by our friend at Jeanotte’s Market, Nashua’s longest running grocer! They wrote, “Remember when you all so generously donated last week so that we could feed our first responders?! Well, today 140 firefighters and police officers are enjoying Nashua’s best subs for lunch! THANK YOU ALL for your generosity and your support! Another Thank You goes out to our own front line workers at Jeannotte’s (who are already busier than usual) for making time to do this.”
Do you have some great pictures of our vibrant Downtown you’d like to show off? Post them to our Facebook page, or send them to us by email! We love to share images that capture the beauty and excitement of Downtown Nashua.

 BEAUTY SURROUNDS US!

Do you love taking photos capturing the beauty all around us? Our friends at Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area invite you to share yours, and get a chance to win $25 each week!
Their “Hidden Treasures Photo Challenge” has been a forum for celebrating and sharing the people, places, and stories that make the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area special, for six years now. In that time, more than 270 partners have offered more than 550 programs during the month of May, without charge. Because of the current pandemic, the program will still continue this year, just a bit differently.
A new theme will be announced in the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area public group every Friday, from now through September. Photographers of all skill levels are invited to share original photos that are related to that week’s theme and were taken within the Heritage Area. That includes Nashua!
Photos may be old or new. Each week one participant will be selected at random to receive a $25 gift certificate to a local business. This week’s theme is “April Showers Bring May Flowers!”

Speaking of photography, we’d like to introduce you to a friend of Great American Downtown, Chris Boncoddo of FlipSide ImageWorks photography!
You already know Chris’ work. He’s been delivering those stunning photographs of our outdoor and indoor Farmers Markets that you’ve enjoyed on our Facebook pages.
Offering a wide variety of photography and videography, prints, weddings and other events, products, portraits and more, Chris brings his artistic eye and kind demeanor to every project!
We particularly love his close-up nature work, and how well he captures the vibrant produce our farmers bring to market each week. Thank you for all you do, Chris!

Recipes contain tea of some kind, flavors of milk, and sugar. Toppings, known as “pearls,” such as chewy tapioca balls, popping boba, fruit jelly, grass jelly, agar jelly, alovera jelly, sago and puddings are often added.”*

Non-Profit of the Week!
End 68 Hours of Hunger
Before the COVID-19 school closure, End 68 Hours of Hunger food bags provided 7 meals and 3 snacks for children each weekend. Currently, their bags provide up to 14 meals and 6 snacks for children to help fight hunger while the stay-at-home order is in place.
Since the school shutdown started one month ago, they have provided 28,700 meals for children.
This would not be possible without community support. Every food donation dropped in their shed helps. Every penny donated goes to purchasing food for kids.

Can you help? You can drop off food donations at their donation shed at 17 Airport Road (at the back of the building) – it is open 24/7 for contactless drop offs.

This week’s most needed items are:

Canned baked beans
Canned black beans
Canned soup
Boxes of cereal
Parmesan cheese – shaker can style (also called shelf stable)
Canned pasta
Boxes of oatmeal packets
Macaroni & cheese

Can you add these items to your shopping list, and drop them off at your convenience? THANK YOU!!

Make a commitment to support local when and how you can, so the businesses and friends who have been there for us to meet out needs in the good times will be here with us and standing strong as we enter a period of economic recovery.

With masks being recommended where social distancing is not possible, many people have taken to the web to order masks online. Are you looking to get one for yourself, or your friends and family? Why not shop local, with the American Quilt Co, located right here in Downtown Nashua! They hand sew all sorts of great items, but have been shifting gears to keep up with the need.
