Dear –FNAME–,

Wow! What a week it has been!

ICYMI, this year’s Nu Muse Festival will be a ticketed event. Nu Muse is Southern NH’s premier “outside the box” spring arts and music festival. Tickets are free, but limited due to the growing interest and capacity of the Nu Muse Main Stage performance area. This event is still over two months away, but in the first week over 1,100 tickets have been claimed.

We expect that all tickets will be claimed over the next month, so head on over and sign up for yours now! Feel free to invite friends along, and get read for our Main Stage lineup announcement coming next week!
Are you an artist or performer interested in signing up to be a part of this year’s event? Artists and artisans, check out our Arts Market Application here, and community performers can sign up here. Due to the high level of community performance applicants, we will not be able to accommodate all performers interested in joining us this year – but all are encouraged to apply!

Have a great week!

-Paul

for Gate City Community Gardens!

Donate to the cause today!
As a member of Great American Downtown’s team, Alyssa O’Mara is going over the edge to raise money to support the Gate City Community Gardens Program. The program’s Nashua Heritage Rail Trail Community Garden was established in the Tree Streets Neighborhood in 2013, with a total of 12 beds. 10 additional beds were built at the garden site in 2016. Our leased area of the trail has ample room for the addition of more garden beds, as well as the establishment of permaculture at the site, like pulbic fruit trees, bushes, and fruiting vines.

Funds raised by our team will support expansion of this program through the purchase of materials for garden expansion, replacement of older raised beds as they break down, purchase of plants, garden equipment and materials, water bills, and support education programming and garden scholarships. The GCCG program offers garden beds at a nominal fee of $35 each year, which covers 75% of our water bills – but also offers scholarship – no questions asked – to applicants who express an inability to pay. This program is part of a broader rail trail stewardship effort. In taking on the garden program – this is GADs first big step in the area of downtown neighborhood wellness. We hope you will support us, and in doing so – support a more connected, healthy, beautiful, and vibrant Downtown Nashua.

Summer Youth Internship Program
offered by the City of Nashua!

Application deadline is March 23rd!
Mayor Donchess is pleased to announce the first City of Nashua Youth Summer Internship Program. The six-week program will provide 13 paid internships within city departments during the summer for high schoolers entering their senior year.
The program is a collaboration between the city’s Economic Development Division, the Mayor’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative and the Nashua School District. The mayor’s MBK initiative is based upon well-researched findings and expert recommendations from multiple disciplines, which concluded that coordinated efforts can improve the life prospects and outcomes for all our young people. By intervening at key moments in life, using evidence-based strategies and comprehensive approaches, we can remove barriers, expand opportunity, and improve outcomes for all. Furthermore, we know the availability of meaningful jobs throughout the year, with decent wages and career paths, is central to any successful economic development strategy.

SATURDAY, MARCH 2
8pm-11pm
Named “Residency King of the Hub, and said to be “just too talented to remain a local hero,” by The Boston Globe; Tim Gearan, the Boston based singer-songwriter was awarded Unsung Hero at the Boston Music Awards in 2004, as well as Best Ongoing Residency in 2012 and continues to be nominated for BMAs today.
After 10 years of touring nationally and abroad as a sideman guitarist for Toni Lynn Washington, Gearan settled down in Somerville, Massachusetts and performs his own music with a remarkable band of Boston MVPs almost exclusively, occasionally stripping down his songs in to a full house.
Gearan has been a regular guest of local super-groups Session Americana, the Sea Monsters and of Treat Her Right. He has been acclaimed for his performance of Hades in Anais Mitchell’s folk opera, Hadestown, toured to Scotland with Kris Delmhorst, Alastair Moock and Rose Polenzani as part of a project called the “Boston T Party,” and continues to collaborate with an amazement of artists in Boston and beyond.
“He’s like an eclectic Little Feat, hitting on different genres from bluesy slide-guitar workouts, to New Orleans Swing, funky soul, country-jazz, and even a touch of Tex-Mex. Gearan has never been bound by formula — and that’s the key.” – Steve Morse
