The evening kicks off at 4:30 p.m. with a candlelit procession up Main Street, beginning at City Hall. Upon arrival in Railroad Square, the city’s official Christmas tree is lit. Much of the downtown is closed to vehicular traffic for the evening; stroll around and enjoy the live entertainment, sample offerings from street vendors, dine in downtown’s fine restaurants, and Shop Small at our unique specialty shops and boutiques.

And be sure to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus and take photos with them, enjoy kids’ rides and activities, plus a few more surprises!

Stop by 201 Main Street (the former Alec’s Shoe Store) from 2–10 pm and visit our Farmers Market and Indoor Gift Market (the Winter Market, for short), and enjoy some incredible finds for the holidays! Food, wine, jewelry, clothing, art, crafts, so many locally made products await! Be sure to visit us!

Fried Dough, Fried Oreos, Cotton Candy, Hot Chocolate, Beverages
Tara’s Fried Dough was created by the late Robert T. Julian Sr. (Bob). The name “Tara” originated from his daughter and has stuck ever since.  One of the first “Food Trucks” in New England was owned and operated by Bob. Operating out of a modified box truck, Tara’s Fried Dough hit the road and never looked back. Bob and his son Robert T. Julian Jr. (Rob) traveled throughout New England together operating at various carnivals and fairs.
Although the business has grown and evolved, the legacy continues to roll on through Bob’s Grandson Robert T. Julian III (RJ).  RJ was named after his grandfather, and was born just weeks before the passing of his grandfather.  Family is still the core to Tara’s Fried Dough’s success and will continue to be for generations to come.
