The Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Helen Honorow and William “Bill” Barry as its 2020 Citizens of the Year. The award will be presented October 8 at the Chamber’s Annual Gala.
This year’s Gala, which will be held virtually for the first time, is being sponsored by Citizens Bank. The Citizen of the Year award is an annual tradition that began in 1945 with the first honoree, the then-Nashua Telegraph publisher Burtt Warren.
Helen and Bill reside in Nashua and are partners in their legal firm, Barry & Honorow, PLLC. They truly exemplify what it means to be Citizen of the Year. Between them, they have served countless organizations throughout the Greater Nashua area and the impact of their work is far-reaching.
According to Kate Luczko, President and CEO of the Greater Nashua Chamber, there were many deserving nominees. “We received so many incredible nominations for Citizen of the Year. Greater Nashua truly has some very outstanding individuals who have dedicated so much time and talent to our community,” Luczko said. “In the end, the committee strongly felt that, this year, Bill and Helen should be the award recipients.
“Over the past few decades they have given, and continue to give today, an immeasurable about of time, energy, and resources to Greater Nashua and their impact is felt at such a diverse number of organizations. The Chamber is thrilled to be able to honor them,” she said.
Bill is currently President of the Rotary Club of Nashua, as it celebrates its centennial year, as well as a Trustee of Rivier University, member of the Girls Inc. capital campaign, and the Village Network. His other civic roles are numerous, and include being the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter President, a Trustee of Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Commissioner of the Nashua Police Department, and a NH State Representative.
