A Call to Artists
Great American Downtown is bringing back a former tradition by holding a Holiday Stroll Art Contest among local artists. The contest is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Winter Holiday Stroll on Main Street from City Hall to the lighting of the holiday tree in front of the Hunt Memorial Building. The walk down Main Street with its associated entertainment, music, food, shopping and activities for families of all ages brings over 30,000 visitors to Downtown Nashua at the beginning of each holiday season.
WHO CAN ENTER
Qualified professional, emerging and student artists may apply, with consideration given to artists living in the greater Nashua area. The wining artist will be awarded a stipend of $100 and will give Great American Downtown the rights of reproduction to produce artist quality notecards to raise funds for its programs and events. The top three artists will also be given the opportunity to show and sell work at the Sunday Holiday Gift Market at 201 Main Street, with the season participation fee waived! ($250 value)
HOW TO ENTER
To enter the contest, each artist should submit an original, full-color painting or photograph representing the holiday stroll and celebrating the holidays in Nashua. The work of art can be any size that scales to five by seven inches. Entries must be submitted to the Great American Downtown office at the back entrance of the Hunt Memorial Building, 6 Main Street, across from Fody’s restaurant on November 1 between 10 am and 6 pm. In addition to submitting the original work of art to Great American Downtown, artists must also fill out our accompanying line form here (CLICK FOR LINK) no later than 6pm on November 1st. Online form includes sections for artist contact information, web content links, artist statement, optional artwork photo submission, and contest use agreement.
JUDGING THE CONTEST
A review panel consisting of members of the Winter Holiday Stroll committee and invited artists will select the winner and three runners up. Notification of selection is expected to be by November 6. All four works of art will be featured as part of the 25th Anniversary Winter Holiday Stroll and at Great American Downtown’s Holiday Gift Market at 201 Main Street from November 18th-December 30th.
